1 week to go

Wow its been a while since my my last blog entry!! Last week i came home from school and sat down at the table surrounded by maths hwk books and physics sheets!
As i sat stretching my brain and trying to make sence of the numbers in my maths book i could hear Cookie (the smaller black dog) coughing so loudly as if she had something stuck in her throught that she just couldnt lodge. But soon there were dots of bright red blood on the floor where Cookie stood. My Mum and sephen and even me , knew something wasn't right. So they grabbed a lead and took her to the vet in the car.
I sat down to my math hwk not having a clue what i was supposed to be doing.

When they got back they told me the dog had to be left at the vet for a little while to be monitored so i stayed where i was and stared at my math hwk for a final time.
The phone rang and Stephen answered it, it was the vet telling us to come and collect our dog.

I offered to go instead of Mum, glad to get away from school work!

The vet opened the door to where Cookie was and as he opened the door i stood on my tip toes trying to see over stephen and the vets shoulders as they stood in way of my view.
I took a peek just as stephen said "oh, shes dead" those words stuck in my head as i saw her lying surrounded in a puddle of her own blood.
i had never seen any form of death before and i stood my feet fixed to the ground and my eyes fixed on the dog. No form of expression on my face.
Stephen asked if i would like to leave and as i turned to walk away, silent tears streemed down my face and dripped of my chin. soon i was crying so hard i could hardly breath. The picture of Cookie lying on the floor stuck in my mind and the three simple words "oh, shes dead"
Stephen was soon by my side comforting me in his arms and all i wanted was to go back to the house. After many phone calls from Stephen explaining what had happened we got in the car. on the way back all i could think about was the other dog, and how she wouldnt understand why her sister hadnt come home.

When we got back i saw Mum standing in the door way, with a shaky smile on her face. ( the look i knew was that of her holding back the tears.)
She held me tight in her arms for a long time, apologising and blaming herself for letting me go instead of her.

We could tell from Coco's body language she did understand.

First school day

It was my first day at the new seychelles school today. We have 8 lessons all together in the day but they are all shorter than an hour like back home. In the morning i met up with megan (who Jane introduced me to one day before) and met her friend kristen. We had a tutor lesson and i met my new tutor, she is really nice and loads of fun. We were told about rules and in assembly they were repeated. Afterwards we had our first art lesson where we watched a slide. Then math and the work was really easy! And finally we had geography.
We were all already given homework even though it was the first day.

The school is really small. The ages range from 3 up to 6th form students. With only 2 classes per year and finding  your way around is easy enough. The uniform for the primary children is all different depending on there age they have different coloured t-shirts. For all the seniors we have white t-shirts with the school badge and skirt or shorts. It is much simpler than the ties and blazors back home, but it is all you need in the hot weather.

Animals

Two days ago we found a small visitor hiding behind the sofa. A little mouse scurried around whilst My Mum and Jane chased it trying to get it out the house. However they couldnt find it again so they placed rat poison by the sofa incase it was still lurking around. The rat was never seen again but the rat poison had compleatly gone.

When we moved into this house it already came with 2 black dogs so all eyes turned on them as prime suspects for the disapearing rat poison. So a vet was called and the dogs had to be taken down however it was a struggle trying to get them into the car as they thought we were going to hurt them. With no leads and nothing to tempt them it was a miracle we managed to get them into the car. I was left alone in the house whilst the others supervised the dogs. I waited impatiantly for them to return and to see if they were all right.

When they finally returned i was glad to see them and they were soon running around like two mad things again!

moving house

we have moved to another house a smaller more homely one and havent had internet connection so i have had to relay on my brain to keep track of every thing i have done so far instead of doing my blog. So every thing i write wont be in the right order but it will be the general idea.

on sunday morning i went out with Donna ( a teacher at janes school) and her 12 year old daughter, larna and her 3 year old son, Charlie. We had a drive all around the south of the island and we found a festival with stalls and people dancing in the open air.... its ok when other people dance but when your Mum joins in .. well you know. After this we found another beach  and me and Larna swam and hurled our selves in and out of the waves. That night i had a sleepover at thier house. Thier house was completly different to any house i had seen before it looked like a normal home on the inside but outside half of the house had been built on a massive rock!

On a wednesday Jane took us to a market by the beach and we ate thier version of a take away, it tasted nothing like food i had had back in england and at first i was convinced i wouldnt like it but after my first bite i realised it was one of the best things i ever tasted (just about) they were vegetable curry wrapped by a sort of naan/pancake thing! yummy!

We went to a different market in the main town (Victoria) the market stalls were full of bright colours and i was soon in love with a dress! The purple fabric stood out to me and the flowers on it made me just have to have it... so i got that for myself and wore it for the rest of the day!

I cant believe it has been a whole week already but so far the seychelles has been great. The sun sets at 7 o'clock and it is almost pitch black just half an hour later. Living so close to a beach is something i havent experianced before and it is fantastic! there are so many new creatures to discover here. I held a gecho (a small lizard type thing that makes a laughing time noise and moves so quickly it was easy to miss it completly.) there are birds with bright red heads and chests that are just beautiful. However the scenery is one of the best things. The thin misty clouds surround the mountain tops that are covered in a thick forrest of greenery. The sun set is on the beach and sets right into the water turning the sky different shades of pink and purple and orange.

Day 2 - thursday 26th (beach)

After a goods night sleep i woke up and had a fruit smoothie containing fruits i had never heard of.
Then the beach! we drove down to the beach that was virtually empty. The white sand was soft underfoot and the sun warm on our backs. I wasnt going to waste time on land so me and jane were soon equiped with our snorkles and goggles and heading for the waves. Ok, i wasnt that good at it but it was my first time but we did see some fish swimming around, After woods i played with a local dog. A small white fluffy one who liked to fetch the things i threw.

we arrived!!

i didn't feel like sleeping when we got to the house, i just wanted to get out and explore, so that night we went and met up with janes freinds in a pizzeria along the beach. the waitress made me and mum laugh! she went up to a table where a middle aged couple were siting but they hadn't decided what they wanted yet. Hearing this the waitress made a huge sigh and stompped off to get somebody else to serve them. we couldn't help laughing.

After eating a large pizza and garlic bread we went to a small market place selling all kinds of things. we saw the sky turn orange and the sun set for the night.  It was only 7:30 but i was so exsahusted we went home and back to sleep.

Travel

you take travel as it comes really.Traffic, hold ups, delays. They usually come as part of the packege. However, Mum said she could tell people had been praying for us as we got off the coach at gatwick airport without experiancing any of the above.
the airport wasn't crowded and there were no lomg queues (for us anyway) It was so easy.
we checked in our bags and strolled around the airport for a couple of hours waiting for our gate to open.

At around 6 o'clock we were boarding onto the plane.
the large airport soon turned into a miniture city that looked as if we could pick it up in one hand. we flew through black clouds until they just looked like layers of candyfloss below us. It took us just an hour before we touched back to earth. We were in Italy's capital city, just waiting to be up in the air again.
It didnt take long for the plane to be refuled and we were soon jetting up the runway.

Dinner was served to us around 10pm and then i decided it was time to sleep... 5 in the morning i awoke and was served breakfast almost straight away.
11 hours later i looked out of the window and saw a mass of sea inches below us and small islands every where. the plane curved and here we were, stepping onto new ground.
we were greeted be jane and her husband, stephen. hugs and smiles were passed and we knew we were welcomed.

The car - now that was fun! it was an old car that only worked with a strugle. and the roads were tough. steepest roads i had ever seen. and soon the cars gears stopped working so we were stranded out side citimart supermarket. After a few phone calls we finally got through to Jane (who had been in another car) who came to pick us up. as we drove up the hills it felt like the car would topple over as they were so steep.

we arrived at the house. a big house with double front doors. tiled floor every where and a sense of home about it. we were here at long last!
